2025 with Cookson Adventures

Top luxury travel trends for the year ahead

Our top adventures for 2025 are at the intersection of groundbreaking technology and a return to authenticity.

This might be an immersive, actor-led experience with great archaeologist Howard Carter in a privatised Egyptian tomb. Flying eVTOLs over buttes to gain a new perspective of Utah’s remote natural beauty. Or, extreme fitness camps in Norway’s Lofoten Islands, predicated on the latest in wellness science.

No two Cookson trips are the same, but they share a passion for setting new standards of creativity and luxury for private UHNW groups and individuals, whether staying in the world’s finest off-market properties, one-off bespoke camps or explorer yachts.

Futuristic new sky adventures

Exploring the wilds of Utah by EVTOL

This isn’t just the chance to be at the forefront of tech, but the opportunity to be one of the first to experience a genuinely new kind of adventure by piloting an eVTOL in the wilds of Utah. The region’s otherworldly landscapes almost demand a special form of exploration. This “go-anywhere” new technology will be able to see guests hop between buttes, soar over riven waterways and speed between gorges.

For full adrenaline thrills, using the eVTOLs, Cookson Adventures will create a wild adventure, tying in everything from slot canyon rappelling and dirt-road mountain biking to monster truck escapades and powerboat thrills through Lake Powell’s twisting reaches. Or if taking it at a more relaxed pace, this bespoke adventure can focus on gentle flyovers of this immense landscape, pausing to meet Navajo guides, unwinding with some paddleboard yoga or indulging in that great tradition of the American West – horse riding.

To make the most of Utah’s beauty, Cookson Adventurers will set up a custom camp, with a menu of extras to choose between, from dance floors to ice baths.

History brought to life

A night at the cursed temple with Howard Carter

Cookson Adventures is set to bring the golden age of archaeology in 1920s Egypt to life through a unique live retelling of the past. Guests will be transported back in time, meeting the world-renowned British archaeologist Howard Carter at the peak of his fame.

After receiving an urgent telegram onboard their dahabiya (luxury private yacht), Carter will enlist the group’s urgent help as amateur archaeologists to help him unravel the ancient mysteries of the past and assist him in the excavation of a lifetime. With exclusive after-dark access to one of Luxor’s iconic temples, the dramatic evening will begin to unfold with an evocative musical backdrop, underscored by professional musicians. Howard Carter will attempt to unlock the mystery on each level of the temple, involving the whole group in his mission to banish a secret curse that has befallen his team. If successful, the group  will join him in a celebratory fireside dinner at his camp facing the temple, before they return to their luxurious voyage down the Nile.

Pioneering off-grid exploration

Discovering Gabon, Africa’s Last Eden

Founder, Henry Cookson, has curated an unparalleled expedition to a largely unexplored country, which Cookson Adventures is tipping as the next big destination in adventure travel. Designed for those looking for a specialist safari with a difference, this journey is the result of extensive research, exploration, and an insatiable thirst for the unseen.

Gabon’s beaches are a global hotspot for turtle conservation and one of the only places in the world where you can catch hippos swimming in the surf of the Atlantic Ocean. Guests will be based in a private concession far from civilisation in custom camps set up on white-sand beaches and in primary forest. They can expect everything from full double beds to social areas and movie projector setups, all catered for by a private chef. From this base, guests will experience incredible wildlife encounters from seeing humpbacks breach right in front of them to seeing forest elephants gather on the treeline and tracking hidden gorilla families, with world-leading primatologists. Rare access to a boat safari will take guests to explore the papyrus fringed Akaka River, before visiting the pigmy tribes in the forest to take part in traditional ceremonies. These are sights which have been witnessed only by a handful of pioneering individuals. It’s all tied together with dining set ups in the tree canopy, heli expeditions and access to leading wildlife specialists.

Redefining the world’s polar frontiers

Introducing a new private camp for true glacial immersion in Southern Greenland

This one-off summer adventure is for intrepid explorers looking for a world-first destination experience. Cookson Adventures will create a custom dome camp in southern Greenland, which promises special access to a spectacular location far removed from any kind of civilisation. Going truly off grid, guests will set up camp in specially heated dome pods amidst the majesty of the surrounding fjordscape, with just the likes of polar bears, muskoxen and seals as neighbours. It’s the perfect space from which to head out and explore Greenland’s polar climes.

The unique experiences can include participating in ground-breaking polar bear conservation project, which is researching how a brand-new population of regional polar bears have adapted the way they hunt due to climate change. From diving beneath icebergs to flying by heli to remote Inuit settlements, guests will see firsthand the giant ice sheets that rival some of the most majestic in the world. With a deep commitment to the growing tourism industry in Greenland (a new airport in Nuuk will open in 2025), the team is exploring avenues to extend its lifecycle, such as-re-purposing the camp as a base for local scientists and researchers to ensure it benefits the local community and sets a high standard in responsible tourism.

A map to your roots

A deeply personal journey into cultural heritage tailored around DNA testing

With over 40million people said to have taken ancestry DNA tests since the early 2000s, DNA testing is becoming increasingly more established and precise. The interest in finding more about our ancestry roots and our migratory histories continues to grow. For curious minds, who want to go one step further and take the digital findings into the real world, Cookson Adventures, will oversee the entire process from organising a premium at-home test to analyse origin, ethnicity and hidden traits to then tailoring an immersive adventure around the results.

A recent adventure involved a client embarking on a moving journey to Benin and Senegal to see firsthand the challenging reality of the slave coast to understand more about the journey his ancestors had been forced to take. A deep immersion into the cultural identity of these countries saw them learning more about ancient voodoo ceremonies and celebrations from a high priest of the religion to visiting local artists and experiencing the vibrant art scene on the coast of Senegal. Whether with Scandi or Scottish ancestry, Cookson Adventures will create a bespoke adventure that may have guests dining like the great Norse adventurers of old in some of Iceland’s most arresting landscapes or designing a tweed tartan at a private atelier in Edinburgh, with inspiration for the design drawn from the guest’s family history.

Personal documentaries

The ultimate travel brag: a blockbuster starring you

Once-in-a-lifetime adventures demand to be documented. Over 15 years, Cookson Adventures has built an in-house team of award-winning editors and shooters, which have gone from capturing Henry Cookson’s polar expeditions to creating Hollywood-worthy documentaries of clients’ epic adventures. An expert team is now on hand to discreetly capture every spectacular moment from geotagging elephants in Kenya to diving alongside whale sharks in the Galápagos. Whether capturing special moments between generations, macro wildlife photography of world-first sightings, or even emulating the Netflix sports documentary style, Cookson Adventures will create a personal film that stands the test of time.
