A first-of-its-kind experience, exclusive to Cookson Adventures
- A next-level luxury camping experience, off grid in one of the world's most breathtaking natural locations

- Cookson Adventures to organise a personalised itinerary of experiences to immerse guests into the other-worldly Icelandic landscapes
Luxury travel company, Cookson Adventures, specialises in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in private luxury travel, designing ultra-personalised adventures in some of the planet’s furthest reaches. A world-first for Iceland, this exclusive-use ‘floating’ aurora camp was recently created at Fjallsárlón, on a glacial lagoon, but can be moved to other spectacular remote locations in Iceland and Greenland for a next-level camping experience with friends and family.
During the winter months, Fjallsárlón is a vast frozen glacier in the far south-eastern reaches of the country. This towering glacier glistens over the mobile camp by day and is lit up by the Northern Lights at night. Guests sleep on the ice in spacious ‘floating’ huts, which come with luxury amenities and floor-to-ceiling windows to bring in the expansive views. Heated and powered by solar and biofuel cells, the huts bring a slice of comfort to the extreme surroundings and don’t leave a trace on the landscape when removed.
Alongside this unique camping experience, Cookson Adventures will further immerse guests into Iceland’s other-worldly scenery through designing a tailored set of outdoor experiences. Drawing on a global network of expert guides, guests can try their hand at everything from ice climbing to remote canyoning. Along the way, Cookson Adventures will surprise with remote gourmet picnics and personal touches, from creating a full-size ice-hockey rink to lighting up an ice bar to create a unique sundowner moment.

The glacier camp
The central hub of the camp is a mobile sauna and hot tub. For WimHof followers, a natural plunge pool can be carved into the lake for the ultimate cold water plunge. The discarded ice can then be repurposed to build a stylish ice bar under the Northern Lights.
The first Efoils in Iceland
Taking off in popularity across the world, we’ve brought the thrilling experience of e-foiling to Iceland. In a calm fjord and kitted out in drysuits, guests can try surfing above the water on a self-powered board.
Epic ice-climbing
Climbing on ice is an adventure in itself. With expert guides, guests can try scaling sheer frozen walls with pick axes and rappelling back down frozen waterfalls.
Heli-skiing
One of the world's finest heli-ski regions, Iceland offers the opportunity to ski from summit-to-sea down untouched lines with mesmerising views over the frozen landscape.
Mountain climbing
Under the guidance of our team of experts and fully harnessed, it's possible to climb the snowy summit of Kirkjufell (a location recognisable from Game of Thrones) and even take in an aerial view of the glacier camp far below.
Glacier fat-biking
This is extreme biking. The specially designed fat tyres enable guests to speed across ice and snow as well as explore more inaccessible locations.
Remote canyoning
Iceland is full of natural slides carved out by water currents. Protected from the cold by a thick drysuit, it's a thrill to explore harder-to-reach areas by navigating through rock pools and by sliding down steep chutes.
Exploring ice-caves
For those in the know, Iceland is full of breath-taking ice caves to abseil into and explore. Sometimes hundreds of metres deep, we light up the caves to create a unique picnic lunch under the thick layers of ice.
Extreme dining
Cookson Adventures created a private restaurant near the camp for guests to gather for meals cooked by an award-winning Icelandic chef, who served an exciting menu of seasonal dishes, using locally sourced ingredients.
