A world-first yachting adventure to Antarctica aboard Octopus

Be part of yachting history

Lauded as the most complex and forward-thinking superyacht ever built, you can be among the very first to explore the planet's southernmost continent aboard OCTOPUS this 2022/23 winter season.

Arguably the world’s most iconic and versatile 126-metre explorer yacht, OCTOPUS only came onto the charter market for the first time in 2021. A true global cruiser with a research pedigree, her ice-class hull has seen her navigate everywhere from the Kimberley’s in north-western Australia to the Northwest Passage.

OCTOPUS’s expedition equipment includes the likes of a sail-in garage with seven tenders – including a Delta 55’ – and the option to have a submersible and two helicopters onboard. There’s even a fully fitted dive centre with a hyperbaric chamber and nitrox capabilities.

Across near-endless deck and interior spaces, it all comes finished to the highest-possible attention to detail after an extensive recent refit. With 13 guestrooms, further highlights include a basketball court, a 15-seat cinema, a vast spa, a glass-bottomed observation lounge and a heated freshwater swimming pool, with a retractable glass floor that raises to deck level to provide an extended area for entertaining.

A sample of just some of our previous Antarctic trips

Deep sea exploration by private submersible – Plunging a submersible into waters that initially seem inhospitable, you will find a surprising amount of wildlife thriving in the icy depths, from otherworldly jellyfish and rarely seen invertebrates to penguins and playful seals in their element.

Helicopters as a platform for adventure – Taking to the skies from OCTOPUS’s helipad, soar over mammoth glaciers and an extinct caldera on Deception Island, before flying over Paradise Bay where you will catch sight of floating icebergs. It’s also a playground for pods of whales and remote colonies of penguins.

Collaborate with scientists on a world-first conservation project – Lead an ambitious new project to tag fin and blue whales alongside a world-class team of scientists. After a rare recent sighting of over 1,000 were spotted in Antarctica’s waters, you will collect vital new data to help discover where fin whales feed and travel to in the region. Blue whales were nearly hunted to extinction in the 20th century, but they are starting to recover in this region and now is the perfect time to step in and start to monitor their recovery.

Ice Climbing – The best way to truly grasp the magnitude of the sheer icy mountains that line the Antarctic coastline is to try and climb them. With an expert mountain guide, you can climb to stunning viewpoints and take in sweeping views across the ocean below.

Scuba Diving – Discover another world beneath the ice. Accompanied by a master diver, explore waters thriving with krill and attracting marine life of every size.

Ski Touring – This is a ski experience unlike anywhere else in the world. Speed down untouched slopes and explore Antarctica’s unique topography. Most slopes can only be accessed via skinning, making the descent all the more rewarding.

Polar Plunge –Brave the freezing Antarctic temperatures with a speedy plunge beneath the surface. This invigorating dip in the world’s coldest seas will leave you refreshed and ready to experience OCTOPUS’s sauna.
