Borneo hanging camp concept
Platforming conservation & special access
Staying among the canopy of an isolated pocket of Borneo’s primary rainforest, this is a world-first chance to experience an ecosystem few humans have ever seen – let alone up close and for an extended time.
Settle into the rhythm of jungle life as you look out for everything from orangutans to pygmy elephants wandering below, assisting documentarians and scientists studying this unique ecology in a way that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.
This leave-no-trace setup uses zipwires and ropes to connect designated sleeping stations, communal lounges and even rainfall showers within the trees – a truly off-grid structure some 100ft / 30m off the forest floor.

the camp gives guests the chance to live in the canopy for up to three days without touching the ground
We’ve secured special permission to design a first-of-its-kind hanging camp in what is otherwise an off-limits conservation area of the jungle, bringing a taste of indulgence to a seemingly unexplored landscape that’s more than 140 million years old.
Iconic for its rich cultural history and wildlife-studded rainforests, Borneo is the world’s third-largest island and a biodiversity hotspot teeming with unique and endangered species found nowhere else on the planet. It’s sometimes referred to as the worlds eight continent –a vast, largely unexplored world teeming with unique life and vital ecological functions.
Here, its ancient rainforests provide a home to iconic wildlife, including endemic orangutans, pygmy elephants, clouded leopards, and an extraordinary diversity of plant species.
Despite its importance, the canopy remains significantly understudied due to access challenges, leaving this rarely visited treetop realm full of potential for the discovery of new species. As part of this camp, you’ll be joining and supporting researchers studying this unique environment, with the rare opportunity to spend extended time immersed in it – allowing you to fully absorb the sights and sounds of its remarkable flora and fauna.
Before your trip, you’ll train with an expert during a weekend of rope and climbing instruction to build confidence and prepare. For those particularly committed, the experience can culminate in a recognised rope-access qualification.
The camp will feature expedition tents, private chefs, comfortable bedding, and outdoor bathrooms. For some, the greatest luxury lies in stillness: reading and reflecting. Those with an appetite for adventure will find themselves immersed in a lattice of ropes, nets, and platforms, with opportunities for abseiling, traversing, and ziplining under expert guidance.
After the exhilaration of life in the canopy, Borneo is the perfect destination to extend your journey, with options such as private yachting, world-class diving, jungle trekking, or visits to remote local communities.
