The Indonesian-inspired design of Si Datu Bua’s spacious decks – featuring woven textiles, artefacts, and art – was the creation of its designer, Patti Seery, to reflect her appreciation for the regions culture.

Watersports

With kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling gear, and diving equipment including a fully licensed PADI dive centre on board, guests are invited to dive headfirst into the water and explore at their own pace.

Indonesian artefacts & art

Featuring cultural art throughout, the selection was curated by its designer, Patti Seery, a globe-trotting American who landed in Jakarta in the early 1980’s. She is variously described as an anthropologist, an art collector and an Asian textile expert. From original Indonesian art to handwoven textiles, the phinisi is transformed into a floating gallery of the archipelago’s rich cultural heritage.

Each journey aboard Si Datu Bua is an invitation to discover the soul of Indonesia with stops at island communities and rich cultural encounters onboard, including traditional music, flavoursome cuisine, and ancestral customs. You’ll also have the rare chance to visit villages dedicated to the age-old craft of Ikat weaving, a heritage preserved across centuries.
